In the mid to late 1990's everyone was on AOL or America Online, including me. But not everyone was developing or using "AOL proggies". AOL proggies, progs or in normal person speak programs, were macros usually written in Visual basic that allowed you to circumvent certain AOL rules. They gave you bonus features to AOL like mass instant messaging, chat room robots, instant messaging bombs, and other useful features for teenagers to impress their friends or pretend to be a hacker. In designing this shirt I got nostalgic about those things and incorporated it into the design. One of the most popular programs at the time was AOHELL, which was one of the most popular proggies for AOL. The second picture is a depiction of someone phishing. Phishing is a term used for trying to get unsuspecting people's passwords, in which you pretend to be an authority figure. An example would be pretending to be from AOL's high ranks and saying you need a person's password to secure the account, whereas you're really trying to gain access to their account. Phishing is still a common criminal act today via email (think SECURE YOUR CHASE BANK ACCOUNT!), but in the AOL days wannabe hackers didn't know how serious of an offense it was. The last box are all the different 1990's AOL slang in ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange). ASCII is basically writing out words with all the different available keys on the keyboard and is still considered a vintage art form. The terms I chose to incorporate are L33T, h4xOr, VB3 and WaReZ. 1337 or L33T or 133T is slang for elite, h4XOR is short for hacker, vb3 is short for Visual Basic 3, and WaReZ is short for pirated software. I hope all you LAMERS like the shirt! This updated unisex essential fits like a well-loved favorite. Super soft cotton and excellent quality print makes one to fall in love with it over and over again. .: 100% Soft cotton (fiber content may vary for different colors) .: Light fabric (4.2 oz/yd² (142 g/m²)) .: Retail fit .: Tear away label .: Runs true to size
