Robert Hunter wrote the song “’Tennessee Jed’ in Barcelona, Spain while walking through the streets and drinking red wine. The song has a great Americana feel to it. It seems to be about missing home, maybe for some missing Tennessee. It's a fun Grateful Dead song, and I always love singing along to it live. Jerry Garcia originally sang the song for the Dead live on October 19, 1971 at Northrup Auditorium at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. It still is a staple song of Dead and Company to this day, with Bob Weir and John Mayer usually splitting up the singing on it. I'm a big Deadhead and wanted to make a shirt around this song. Rather than putting some hick that resembles what we think of Tennesee Jed, why not put the great state of Tennessee instead? I figured I'd do that and add the great Grateful Dead colors from their symbol to comprise the shirt. I like it in Athletic heather. This updated unisex essential fits like a well-loved favorite. Super soft cotton and excellent quality print makes one to fall in love with it over and over again. .: 100% Airlume combed and ringspun cotton (fiber content may vary for different colors) .: Light fabric (4.2 oz/yd² (142 g/m²)) .: Retail fit .: Tear away label .: Runs true to size
